Control Engineer (f/m/d)
- On-site
- Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
Job description
We are developing a unique Active Pupil Steering Technology for Augmented Reality Glasses. So there is a control loop involved, measuring the pupil position and redirecting the light into the pupil. The pupil steering mechanism is very special, since it needs to be integrated into glasses, being invisible to the human eye and must ensure low power consumption in the mW range without adding weight or noise. Your task is to design sophisticated control systems to fulfill target specifications that are directly linked to Augmented Reality user experience.
Job requirements
You will be responsible for:
Mathematically Modelling the dynamic system
Algorithm Design: Develop and implement (Nonlinear and) Model Predictive Control (MPC) strategies.
System Modeling: Implement models using e.g. MATLAB/Simulink or Python and evaluate algorithms w.r.t. user experience aspects.
Embedded Implementation: Write and optimize real-time control software in C++ for platforms like e.g. STM32, dSPACE, or FPGA.
On-site Collaboration: Work closely with a small, highly skilled and international team in Karlsruhe to ensure rapid technical iterations.
Hardware Integration: You are contributing to the development of all related system components like eye tracking, processing platform, mechanics, electronics and actuator design.
Mass Production: Building the next consumer platform technology comes with unique challenges..
Your Profile
Experience: 5+ years of industry experience or a completed PhD as an equivalent. At least once you were responsible for developing a control system from scratch into a functional prototype.
Education: Background in Control Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
Technical Skills: Deep expertise in topics like Real-time control, Feedforward control, and Nonlinear control.
Software Proficiency: Professional experience with C++ and Python or MATLAB/Simulink.
Mindset: You are a "deep-diver" who enjoys mastering the minute technical details of every aspect of a product.
Communication: Fluency in English is essential, as it is our primary internal language.
Location: Willingness to relocate to or work from our office in Karlsruhe.
