At Gixel our goal is to explore, innovate and design a novel next generation augmented reality experience. We are looking for skilled and motivated Principal Engineer in the field of Precision Actuation & Control.

As a Principal Engineer – Precision Actuation & Control you will lead the development of advanced actuator systems for our AR platforms. This role involves designing and integrating actuators, developing real-time control loops, selecting and integrating sensors, and driving rapid prototyping efforts. The ideal candidate has expertise in embedded systems (C/C++), control algorithms, and mechatronics, with strong prototyping and experimental design skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Actuator Development: Design and implement advanced actuator systems, ensuring seamless integration into our AR platforms.

  • System Integration: Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and software domains to achieve cohesive system functionality.

  • Control Systems: Develop and refine real-time control loops for precise actuator positioning.

  • Sensor Integration: Select and integrate appropriate feedback sensors to meet stringent precision requirements.

  • Prototyping & Testing: Lead rapid prototyping efforts, including mechanical adjustments and PCB modifications, to validate and optimize designs.

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in actuator design, control systems, or mechatronics.

  • Embedded Systems Expertise: Proficient in developing control loops using languages such as C/C++.

  • Sensor & Control Algorithms: Deep understanding of measurement systems and control algorithms.

  • Mechatronics/Robotics Background: Experience in mechatronics or robotics, with a preference for familiarity with shape memory alloys.

  • Prototyping Skills: Adept at rapid prototyping and experimental design to iterate and refine actuator solutions.
